Pōwhiri

We are excited to announce that we will be opening NZPEM with a pōwhiri at Whatua Kaimarie Marae (11 Sutherland Road, Point Chevalier, Auckland – see Green pin on the map) at 3:30pm on Monday 23rd March.

All conference attendees will be formally welcomed onto the marae by local kaumatua from the marae. This is a unique cultural experience which demonstrates manaakitanga, providing a warm welcome, caring for one another, and whanaungatanga, building meaningful connections. For those who have not previously attended a pōwhiri, the process of being formally welcomed will be explained to all the conference attendees.

The pōwhiri will be followed by kai (food) and whakawhanaungatanga (a chance to get to know one another!), finishing by 7.30pm.

We intend to provide transport to Whatua Kaimarie Marae from Auckland City Hospital for those who require it, including those at the registrar workshop. It is anticipated that transport will leave Auckland City Hospital at 3pm after close of the registrar workshop.

We would love if as many NZPEM attendees could attend this occasion as possible, and it is very much part of the conference itself. We understand that for some it may be tricky with transport and timings.
